According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has moved World War Z from its holiday release to June 21, 2013. The zombie-apocalypse film stars Brad Pitt as a United Nations employee who travels the world trying to find a way to stop the undead pandemic from destroying humanity. Marc Forster is directing.
Deadline is reporting that David Morse has joined the cast of Paramount’s zombie-apocalypse film, World War Z. Morse currently stars in HBO’s Treme and will play a prisoner in WWZ. WWZ stars Brad Pitt as a United Nations employee who travels the world trying to find a way to stop the undead pandemic from destroying humanity. Marc Forster is directing World War Z, and the film is scheduled for a December 21, 2012 release.
Fans of Max Brooks’s World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War have been up in arms since Paramount Pictures issued a press release for their upcoming film adaption of the novel. The synopsis included in the release seems to dictate that the movie will be quite different from the book. Marc Forster, director of Paramount’s World War Z, addressed the movie’s changes in a recent conversation with MTV. In the interview, Forster says they are “trying to still include as much as we can from the book,” but admits that there are differences from the novel. One change he acknowledges is the characteristics of the zombies. In the novel the zombies are classic, slow-walking corpses, but the zombies in the movie will have a “different approach” says Forster. Check out the entire interview at MTV.com. World War Z is scheduled for release on December 21, 2012.

Metro online has the first look at an actor in zombie makeup for the Paramount’s World War Z. To see the full zombie picture and the rest of Metro‘s World War Z set photos click HERE. The zombie movie has been filming in Glasgow where, according to Metro, the film’s star Brad Pitt reportedly saved a female extra from being crushed by a crowd of running “zombies” on set. The film also stars Mireille Enos (Big Love, The Killing), James Badge Dale (The Departed), Matthew Fox (Lost), and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad). World War Z is based on Max Brooks’s World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War–the story of a United Nations worker traveling the globe, gathering stories from survivors ten years after the planet-wide zombie invasion. A recent press release from Paramount Pictures seems to show that the movie is headed in a slightly different direction than the novel:
“The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.“
Marc Forster (Quantum Of Solace) is directing World War Z, and the film is scheduled for release on December 21, 2012.
