‘Walking Dead’ the Game and ‘Zombie Apocalypse 2′

Telltale Games has released more details about its upcoming video game adaptation of The Walking Dead comic book series.  The game features two new survivors who are not from the comic book or the television series.  Those characters are Lee, a former prisoner, and Clementine, an abandoned young girl.  Some of the characters from the comic will turn up in the game as non-playable characters.  The game does not yet have a release date.

Konami has announced that a sequel to their popular zombie shooter, Zombie Apocalypse, will arrive this fall.  The video game, tentatively called Zombie Apocalypse 2, allows up to four players to battle for survival.  The game takes place on an island crawling with the undead.  Players must destroy the zombie hordes, rescue survivors, and find a way off the island.  The game will be released on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

‘Dead Block’ Teaser Trailer

Candygun Games has released the trailer for their upcoming zombie game, Dead BlockDead Block is a third-person tower-defense game in which players must defend themselves against an undead onslaught.  The game will eventually be released on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and PC.

Dead Space 2 Demo & ‘Aftermath’

A demo of EA’s Dead Space 2 will be available for download on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Tuesday, December 21, 2010.  In the survival horror sequel, Issac Clarke returns to battle more infested Necromorphs (space zombies) aboard a heavily populated space station.  Dead Space 2 will be released on January 25, 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.  The second Dead Space animated film, Dead Space: Aftermath, will be released simultaneously on January 25th.

‘Dead Nation’ Launch Trailer

Dead Nation went live on the PlayStation Network today.  Check out the launch trailer for the zombie shoot ‘em up below!

‘Dead Nation’ Arrives November 30th

Housemarque’s Dead Nation will launch for the PlayStation Network on November 30, 2010 in North America, according to the PlayStation Blog.  The top-down zombie shooter will feature both online and offline two-player co-op play.  Dead Nation will cost fifteen dollars to download on the PlayStation 3.

Update on Undead Games

Check out the new trailer for Rockstar’s Undead Nightmare—zombie themed DLC for the game, Red Dead Redemption.  The game pack will be available for download on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network on October 26, 2010.

Conspiracy Entertainment’s Rock of the Dead is getting ready for an October 2010 release.  The game allows players to use guitar and drum video game controllers to destroy armies of zombies and aliens.  The game features music by Rob Zombie and voice work by Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day.  Rock of the Dead will be available for Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

 

Online Co-op for Dead Nation

Online co-op play has been confirmed for Housemarque’s newest video game, Dead NationDead Nation is a top-down shooter that pits players against hundreds of on-screen zombies.  The game will be released on the PlayStation Network this fall.

More Video Games…and Zombie Statues!

Capcom has announced a special “High Stakes Edition” of its upcoming survival zombie game, Dead Rising 2.  The special edition will include a poker set, exclusive DLC, and the chance to win a six-foot tall zombie statue!  The Dead Rising 2 – High Stakes Edition costs $89.99 and is only for sale on Capcom’s online store.  Standard and collectors’ editions are also available for pre-order.  Dead Rising 2 goes on sale for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on September 28, 2010.

Rockstar Games announced its plans to release zombie-themed DLC for Red Dead Redemption.  The “Undead Nightmare Pack” will include a brand new single-player campaign that involves a zombie plague as well as new weapons, zombie animals, and a secret location.  The pack will be available for download on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE; although, no official release date has been announced.

Zombie Video Game Updates

Some fresh video game tidbits to chew on…

Plants vs. Zombies–the highly praised (and super fun!), tower defense-style video game–is headed to the Nintendo DS.  According to the game’s developer, PopCap Games, the DS version is set for a January 2011 release date and will feature new and exclusive game content not found anywhere else.   The game–in which you defend your home against zombie hoards using various houseplant “weapons”–is already available for PC, Mac, and iPhone, with an Xbox Live Arcade version going on sale September 8, 2010.

Do you love fire?  Do you love mowing down ridiculous amounts of zombies?  Then rejoice!  The popular top-down shooter, Burn Zombie Burn, recently became available for PC via Steam.  The game originally launched March 26, 2009 on the PlayStation Network–where you can now download the new add-on, Burn Zombie Burn In Space.

An iPhone version of Steve Jackson Games’s Zombie Dice was released last month on Apple’s App Store.  The basic app is free, and a multiplayer upgrade costs 99 cents.  If you’re unfamiliar with the amazing game, check it out here!

I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1 (I Made A Game With Zombies In It!) is the all-time number one selling indie game on Xbox LIVE.  The top-down, shoot ‘em up has been purchased over 308,000 times, according to game developer, Ska Studios.  To celebrate, Ska Studios is releasing the game’s theme song on the Rock Band Network.

Lastly, Activision has yet to confirm whether or not its highly-anticipated first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops, will feature a “zombie mode.”  The official Black Ops facebook page announced that the all four zombie maps from Call of Duty: World at War would be included in the Prestige and Hardened editions of Black Ops, but failed to mention whether or not the wildly popular Nazi Zombie subgame from World at War would return.  Call of Duty: Black Ops will launch on PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and PC on November 9, 2010.
