Treyarch and Activision have unveiled the first information about ZOMBIES in their upcoming game, Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The popular game mode has expanded significantly in the latest edition of the Call of Duty franchise. Zombies in Black Ops II will not only include the classic Survival mode, during which players cooperatively battle against waves of the undead, but also two brand new modes: Tranzit and Grief. Tranzit is a cooperative story campaign set in a huge interconnected world. In Tranzit players will be able to travel to different maps within the world using an armored bus. While traveling between areas players will have to work together to fight off zombies as they swarm the vehicle. Once the bus has reached a destination, players can jump off and explore the new area in order to discover additional weapons and items. In Grief mode, two teams of human players compete to survive against an onslaught of zombies. The last team standing wins the match. During Grief players will be unable to directly kill the humans on the other team. Players must instead find different ways to hinder the other team’s survival. Up to 8 players can participate in Grief mode online. Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be released for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on November 13, 2012 and for Nintendo’s Wii U on November 18th.

Capcom’s Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is out today. The zombie game is a complete re-imagining of Dead Rising 2‘s story and stars the hero of the first Dead Rising–Frank West. Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The game is rated “M” for Mature.

Meet the newest zombie-annihilating weapon: the Electric Crusher. The EC is part car battery, part sledge hammer, and will make its deadly debut in Capcom’s Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. Capcom gave Dead Rising fans the opportunity to design and vote for their favorite combo weapon, and the Electric Crusher came out on top. Capcom revealed the winner and its first gameplay footage at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. Watch the video below, courtesy Machinima. Capcom’s latest Resident Evil game, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, is out on Nintendo 3DS today. Mercenaries 3D is a renovated version of the Mercenary missions found in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. In the game players compete against the clock to destroy as many zombified enemies as possible. The game features online co-op play as well. Capcom released new trailers for both Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Resident Evil Revelations at this year’s E3 Expo. Raccoon City puts players in the shoes of the Umbrella Corporation’s security force during the original T-virus outbreak. It is the job of the players to cover up all T-virus evidence–eliminating zombies and survivors. The game will be released this winter for Xbox 360, PS3, and Microsoft Windows. Revelations features long-time Resident Evil stars, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, exploring a troubled luxury cruise ship. The game’s story takes place between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Revelations will be released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012.

Activision has released a grindhouse-style trailer for the newest Call of Duty: Black Ops zombie map, Call of the Dead. Call of the Dead is apart of Escalation–the second downloadable map pack for Black Ops. The level is set in an undead-infested ship and is based on the zombie films of George A. Romero. The filmmaker even makes an appearance in the game. The game has four playable characters, all of whom are popular horror actors: Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Danny Trejo (Machete), and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead). Escalation will be available for download on Xbox 360 May 3, 2011 and eventually will be released for PS3 and PC. Watch the trailer below.
