Soooo….a Zombie Apocalypse Store with knives, swords, zombie targets, etc, etc has opened its doors in Las Vegas. When are people going to release that this whole zombocalypse survival thing is just a fad? Eventually, you will become a zombie. It’s a fact. Consult any zombie movie. SO all you business owners out there, the stores you actually NEED to be opening are ZOMBIE supply stores. The zombie population is growing everyday, and we need a place to shop too. Potential products for zombies: long-lasting walking shoes, protective headgear, ultra-adhesive glue for wound repair, breath mints. I would really like some armored gloves with razor-sharp claws. They would make getting a rib cage open a lot easier. A store for zombies is a great idea, and if I haven’t convinced you yet, check out the sales pitch in my latest vlog entry. Also, when these stores open, I should receive a considerable discount for coming up with the idea.

British Columbia’s provincial government has been promoting zombie outbreak preparation through its emergency website, Emergency Info BC. The B.C. government has been using the website and social media to promote zombie attack preparedness as an effective means to prepare for any disaster. British Columbia wants its residents to be able to identify a disaster’s risks, create an emergency plan, and build a survival kit. Architects Southwest has announced the winners of their 2011 Zombie Safe House Competition. A mobile, armadillo-like shell designed by Austin Fleming was this year’s first place winner. The annual competition asks its participants to design the perfect zombie apocalypse fortress. The designers have to consider food, power, waste, weapons, storage, evacuation, and (most importantly) how to keep zombies out of their houses. The judges panel included a number of individuals involved in the architecture and/or zombie field including last year’s first place winner and Max Brooks, author of The Zombie Survival Guide. 2011 ZSHC Winner - Vagabond Moblie SafeHouse Device by Austin Fleming
This Halloween afternoon, Delaware County, Ohio will be running a “zombie hazardous materials exercise” to test the abilities of its emergency first responders. The mock zombocalypse is being organized by the Delaware County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and will include 250 “zombie victim” volunteers. First responders will have approximately 2 hours to effectively deal with the hazardous chemical spill that is creating the zombies as well as assist zombie victims through the decontamination process that will bring them back to normal. Any responder who is not wearing proper personal protection and comes into contact with either the chemical or a zombie will turn into a zombie themselves. The trial outbreak was inspired by the CDC’s recent zombie preparedness campaign.

The Missouri Department of Conservation‘s official website is listing zombies as the newest invasive species threat. In their blog post, “Flesh Afield,” the MDC gives advice on zombie preparedness for those exploring Missouri’s conservation lands. The post warns of potentially submerged zombies in wetland areas, the dangers of a severed zombie head bite, and the pros and cons of seeking safety in a tree stand. First the CDC…now the WWE? The professional wrestling company has released its own zombie apocalypse manual, “Grappling with Ghouls: Official WWE Zombie Survival Guide.” The guide offers many important tips (ex: seek the high ground, avoid flashy clothes, and stay away from attention-drawing ring entrances). Sears is gearing up for a zombie invasion. The department store’s official website is advertising products and tips for both zombies and zombocalypse survivors. An undead makeover is becoming an annual tradition for Sears.com. Last October the living dead also invaded the website.
